You have to take into consideration the road to the championship. The other regions have bigger schools than Region D and probably always will.

The obstacle I see for Div II teams is mainly the teams out of Region C. If you can't beat the best in Region C, you're not even going to get to the state championship game.

Tom's ball control killed a lot of teams that might have had somebody waiting to play, if they could just get the ball. Ask Bath County. That thing Tom had about perfection and getting the first 3 yards is something a lot of high school coaches just don't understand.

    Re: Appalachia reinforcements?

True, Spuds, Tom did have a way of playing ball control and that undoubtedly won him lots of games. My biggest problem is the fact that the VHSL has consistantly played favorites to the Eastern part of the state in that they have purposely divided the divisions in such a way as to make it almost impossible nowadays for a team in this part of the state to compete at the state level successfully, witht eh exception of a handful of schools.

Now, back to my Clintwood "rant". I think my last comment about the last time they held a trophy in their hands has shut them up for a while, at least. Come on back after the game and brag about how you all beat up on "poor ole Appy". A lot to brag about there isn't there?

So you're telling me Tom Turner would have allowed someone to quit, then return to the team once they made the playoffs? </div></div>

Well, he did, I know that for sure. </div></div>

Well I just lost a metric [censored] load of respect for Turner.

Clintwood demolishes Appalachia yet again today.

    Shocking.

The "uber" motivation kicked in ..

.. then they stepped off the bus.

That's all that changed it seems.

    Re: Appalachia reinforcements?

What the heck is your dang problem. Rock asked a question about if players had came back from injury or some of the ones that had quit. I see nothing wrong with that. As far as people dumping on on Appy, you might want to re-read the thread. It's Appy's own that's throwing them under the bus for the most part. Rock asked a question, I made a comment about not liking letting quitters back on teams (that goes for any team), and the former CW player made a comment about the coaches making sure the team was just as prepared as if the game was 0-0 last week. You're always looking for some stretch to try and start some more bullcrapt. You're a joke.

The team was always asked, if they voted it OK the kid was asked to run, etc and was allowed back. All of them I remember were like one day things. I always thought everybody went through this.
